dr066 cover The Golden Hour - Until I See You Again / Letter #709 (DR066)
The Goldenhour ... the crucial hour following a near fatal accident

The Goldenhour ... 5 Scottish groovers that will keep you entertained for more than just one!

These tracks originally hit the Detour office as a Promo CD - and to be honest the thing hasn’t been out of the CD player since. Here we’ve bought you just two tracks from the band that won the Bacardi Rum/The List Unsigned Scottish Band of 1997.

Their local press really seem to like these guys and we must admit that we are rather partial to bit of The Goldenhour ourselves. The two tracks we’ve got here for you are just dripping in sleezy organ and it’s plain to see how they managed to walk off with the title Bacardi Rum/The List Unsigned Scottish Band of 1997.

So do yerself a HUGE favour by grabbing a copy of this great new Detour offering.

Our intial announcement that we’d signed the Goldenhour generated quite a bit of music media interest, but then you don’t need to take their word for it, buy a copy of the single and find out for yourself.

rubbish7001 cover The Hammers - I Hate Dead Popstars / Pisshead #1 (RUBBISH7001)
From the band you’ve never heard of, we bring you a fantastic first 7" outing from the Punk label extraordinaire ..... Bin Liner With ...

The Hammers "I Hate Dead Pop Stars" Paying homage to all those that once lived and who can no longer come round for tea!

And a b-side that I’m sure the majority of the male population can relate to: "Pisshead #1" asking you "How many nights down the pub have you flushed down the bog?"

Way back in ‘77, during the Summer of hate when punk rock first raised it ugly head, it was soon to become a way of life to hate everything and everyone, to rebel against anything even slightly authoritarian and to basically just enjoy yourself regardless! Here today - over twenty years on, the Hammers can easily spit, pogo and puke over the best of them. Two tuneless tracks recorded in a bedroom on a four track recorder - we have such little faith in this band that we’re only gonna press 300 copies!

dr064 cover PARADE! - The Beach / Supernatural Thing (DR064)
Introducing ... One of the most innovative young bands to come out of the UK in a long while .... Parade!

Bringing you talent, style and a freshness that’s makes life pleasurable again. Parade! Here we bring you Parade’s debut vinyl appearance, two fantastic tunes recorded at London’s Rogue Studio’s PLUS a bonus track featuring a guest appearance from our very own Jon Paul Harper of Clique/Knave fame. This is a release that can’t afford to be missed, bringing you great lyrics, great music and of course a hammond organ ... PARADE! Is Here - Check 'em Out.

dr063 cover J-60 - Welcome To The Beat Club / As Times Gone / Looking Out For Love (DR063)
J-60 Welcome You to Their BEAT CLUB
Under the Watchful Eye of Madhatter Management these tracks earned the band respect as one of the best demo tapes to pass through this office in a very long time. Starting life as Men Lie, this band had already taken their native Scotland by Storm before signing to Detour Records in the September of 1997. A name change and a single deal set the band on course for a fantastic future. J-60, Apparently is the name of the shop where Stevie Marriott worked before starting the Small Faces. J-60, Is the name of a great new young band outta Aberdeen, Scotland.

dr065 cover THE KILLERMETERS - Are You Ready 7" EP (DR065)
Three Brand New Tracks, recorded especially for Detour Records. Following the phenomenal success of their recent Double Album and massive sell out gigs during the last few months, it is with great pleasure that we can inform you that they've been back in the studio. The result is a three track EP and a taster for their Mini Album due out in the summer! Featuring All Nighter, Short Sharp Shock and You Don't Love Me.

dr060 cover MYSTREATED - Contrasts (I’ve got Plenty) / Right Here (DR060)
Following the blinding success of their first 7" on the Detour label: "I’ll be there" (DR054) The Mystreated, one of the best known 60s garage bands on the circuit that can trace a pedigree that connects up with Kula Shaker. The Shaker’s Jay Darlington originally played with a group called the Sheds which were to reform as the Mystreated upon losing him to his own band Tilt-A-Whirl. Jay eventually ended up with the Kays who were to become Kula Shaker. So, if you can follow that, what we have here today is a strong, deep rooted band that do what they do best, with an authentic 60s purist sound that the scene just couldn’t live without. Taking in other bands en route, the Embrooks and Stewed are both connected to the mighty Mystreated! Grab yourself a piece of the action and be sure to add the latest in a long line of Mystreated releases to your collection.

dr059 cover JEKYLLS - Jigsaw / Man Out Of Time (DR059)
Finally, this Prisoner Influenced four piece French set up grace the pages of the Detour label catalogue !!! The Jekylls have been around for a great many years and without actually working it out proper we estimate at least 6 or 7. With many releases under their belts including two LPs, their first single appeared in the early 90s on the Dig label. Entitled "The Goodtime Is Over" this was the beginning of a successful career for these French groovers which is still far from over. Having now seen a 10" vinyl album with the wonderful title: "The Last of the Pterodactyls Wild Quest" and their CD only release - "A hidden meaning" this Detour release coincides with a split Jekylls release on Frances "Larsen" label.

drcd014 cover THE ACRYLIC TONES - Above The Streets and Houses (DRLP014 and DRCD014)

Five hard working lads from Sunny Newcastle are no strangers to the Detour label. Indeed they've already seen two 7" singles and an album released here all of which have proved to be best sellers. Their individual hammond driven sound has been given a more 90s feel for these recordings but the ability to write great foot tapping, lyrical master peices is, as always, embedded within the grooves of this album. Featuring a different version of Radio Tones on each format, this album is a must for everyone whether your preference is 60s Mod or 90s Brit Pop.

TRACK LISTING: Weekend Freaks, Ode to an Aviator, Majestic 12, Tell Me, Last Year's Man, Radio Tones, The Delivery, Into the Stone, Lies, Tabasco Fiasco, Shopping, Carol Anne

drcd013 cover THE KILLERMETERS - Metric Noise (DRLP013 and DRCD013)

Back in 1979 when the original Mod revival took the Country by such storm there were a handful of Mod bands that stood out proud above the others. The Chords, Secret Affair, The Purple Hearts and Squire to name just a few. Hot on their heels were the Killermeters, not quite so well known but well accepted by the music press of the day. Full pages were written in Sounds and the NME and a minor hit was nicely tucked under their belts courtesy of RCA. Becoming the pride of the North the Killermeters stuck around for a number of years until they split in the early 80s. Like so many others the Killermeters started life as a punk band the "Killer Meters" as they were then, split in 1978, reforming in the October as the mod band The Killermeters, kicking back into life with a new song that said it all; "Back In Business". During their time they were warned by John Peel that the Mod image would lead them down a blind alley but they were also raved about in Sounds by Gary Bushell, supported Secret Affair and the Undertones and finally went on tour with Eddie and the Hot Rods. Unfortunately the tour was to leave them badly in the red and as a result the Killermeters finally came to an end, coming back to life as Soldiers are Dreamers in 1981, taking their name from the Sassoon poem. This double album takes the listener through the legend that was the Killermeters. With tracks taken from various sources this is the definitive Killermeters recordings including demo versions of their better known tracks "Twisted Wheel" and "SX225". Finishing with six of the best tracks from the Psychedelic period of the Soldiers Are Dreamers this album could be described as the This is your life LP.
