Specialising in Mod and Punk originated music the Detour Records mail order and distribution company issues it’s printed mail order catalogue on a quarterly basis in December, March, June and September. During 1997 the average size of the catalogue ranged from between 70 and 100 pages thick, crammed to the brim with rarities, obscurities and every day favourites. With a customer base of between 1500 and 2000 people from all over the world the mail order company was probably at it’s strongest during 1997. The introduction of the credit card facility at the beginning of the year and an extension of the printed version going "on-line" during the later part of the year, allowed customers to order direct from their desks. With strong competition from dealers around the World, the need to find the utmost rarity became a job within itself, eventuating in each Mail Order Catalogue running it’s own auction of rarities as the growing need to complete wants lists became even more of an obsession amongst the World's collectors.

The Mail Order Catalogue is divided into sections: The auction, 7" singles, albums, ska & northern soul, fanzines & memorabilia and punk. New stock that comes in between each issue is put out as an Update sheet with all outgoing orders and the "on-line" version is updated on a weekly basis. New customers will receive three catalogues automatically and will only continue to receive them if they have placed an order within the previous three, a system that allows us to keep costs down and generate a continual and fresh customer base. The catalogue is an ideal stopping point no matter what you are looking for, be it the run of the mill releases, the rarities, collection completers, the underground labels, or just some darn good music both new and second hand.
